1999 IEAust Award for Innovation in Teaching of Applied Mechanics

presented to Dr Nathan Scott and Professor Brian Stone of the University of Western Australia.

This Award is offered to an individual or a team who has made significant innovative changes to the teaching and learning practices of any subject in Applied Mechanics (other than Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics), thereby enhancing the interest and understanding of the subject. Innovations may relate to any aspect of curriculum and instructional design, delivery and teaching style, laboratory, software, etc. The nomination may focus on a specific aspect of innovation or a series of innovations.
The recipients accepted a $1000 honorarium and an impressive plaque

School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Curtin University of Technology

The School has implemented a series of initiatives, aimed at making both the physical and cultural environments much more people-friendly places. Such wide ranging initiatives include greening the grounds, creating an exhibition space within the School, broadening the selection of subjects on offer to include social and cultural aspects of technology.
