The 8th Annual Women
in Engineering Forum |
Tuesday October 1, 2002 Rydges Canberra, London Circuit CanberraThe future face of engineering will be that of a woman....... This was the vision of two reviews of engineering education and
an IEAust President, but we appear little closer to achieving it. The Annual Women in Engineering (WIE) Forum provides the opportunity
for all engineering stakeholders who are interested in promoting
equity, diversity and cultural change in the engineering profession
to network and to share and disseminate ideas and strategies. The
forum features a stream of papers and professional development workshops
related to the participation and advancement of women in engineering
education and the profession. The 8th Annual Women in Engineering Forum will be held on Tuesday
October 1 2002 as part of the 13th Annual Conference for Australasian
Association for Engineering Education (30 September - 2 October
2002). Fiona Krautil, Director of the Equal Opportunity for Women in the
Workplace Agency, is the keynote speaker for the Forum. Fiona will
provide a status report on women in engineering - the progress to
date and the challenges for the 21st century. What are the critical
success factors in creating inclusive workplaces and learning environments?
What is the role of the leader? How do we really engage men in the
change process? And what can we learn from some relevant best practice
diversity case studies? The National Women in Engineering Committee, IEAust is sponsoring
a workshop titled "Leading the change: women the future leaders
of the engineering profession". This workshop is directed to
the needs of women engineers and managers. Participants will explore
the gendered culture of engineering workplaces (including universities)
and strategies to enhance leadership opportunities for women. Celebrating women in engineering |
An informal dinner will be held on Monday September 30 to celebrate
women in engineering (register at conference). Further details will
be announced as they become available. |
