Journal
ISSN 1324-5821
First published in 1991, the Australasian Journal of Engineering Education is AAEE's own journal and has published over 300 papers to date. While the AJEE is Australasian in flavour, it presents work which is at the forefront of engineering education internationally.
Up until 1998, each issue of the AJEE has contained papers on a broad range of engineering education topics. From 1999, there was a change in philosophy with each issue of the Journal focussing on a specific theme or themes. Each issue had its own specialist editor who wrote a review or overview paper introducing the theme. Invited and submitted papers from Australasian and international authors presented work at the frontier of that particular theme. Papers outside the theme were still be published to round out each issue.
From 2002 the Journal has been published "on-line" to reduce costs and improve accessibility. In 2007 the task of publishing the Journal was taken over by Engineers Media, the publishing arm of Engineers Australia. Editorial responsibility is still handled by AAEE, but the task of putting it all together has been moved on. As a result the online home of the Journal will gradually be moving to the Engineers Media AJEE site. Use this link if you have your membership number handy. Otherwise members and non-members of Engineers Australia alike can download recent papers (from 2007 till now) from http://www.engineersmedia.com.au/journals/aaee/papers.asp
The AJEE is published twice a year; the first edition, published around March, contains the best papers from the previous years' conference. The second edition is published online throughout the rest of the year, with papers published as they are approved.
Articles in this journal are indexed in the Australian Education Index.
Archives can be found at The National Library Archive at: http://pandora.nla.gov.au/tep/10589AJEE is currently published as an online journal only. This means that papers are uploaded and able to be accessed as soon as the review and formatting processes are completed.
How to Submit a Paper
Papers should be submitted electronically through the Editorial Manager online interface. Prospective authors should register themselves and read the Instructions for Authors available through the website.
Only original papers not previously published will be considered for publication. Authors of papers accepted will be required to transfer copyrights to the publisher. Contributions other than academic papers are also welcome (for example, reviews, and letters to the Editor). All contributions must be in English. Papers must include an abstract of approximately 160 words. The Journal follows the International System of Units (SI) and the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) for spelling.
Number illustrations consecutively, ie Table 1, 2, 3, with one drawing to each sheet of paper. Do not include illustrations in the text of the paper. Include with each file or write in pencil on the back of each photograph , diagram, table, etc, the full name of the author, or authors, and where in the text the illustration is to be placed. Include captions in the text of the paper.
Authors are asked to submit a short biography (maximum 160 words) including a photograph.
Unless otherwise specified, the first-named author will receive the proofs for corrections of typesetter's errors.
The AJEE follows the American Psychological Association (APA) 5th Edition style guide for referencing. EndNote can automate this formatting for you; alternatively details can be found at the APA website.
