The ACCESS Groups in Australia
ACCESS (Architects Construction and Consulting Engineers Specialist Services) was founded in 1971 as a liaison group of special libraries servicing the information needs of architects, planners, constructional engineers and related professions, including the Stanton Library, North Sydney.
The ACCESS Queensland Group
The inaugural ACCESS Queensland Group meeting was held on
Wednesday 25th November 1987 at the Local Government Department Library.
The first 1988 Committee was: President, Carolyn Manifold (Winders, Barlow
& Morrison); Secretary/Treasurer, Heather Todd (QIT); Publication
Officers, Marion Hayes (Cameron McNamara), Jennifer McKenna (GHD) and
Felicity Windzor (McWilliams).
The 2004 Committee is:
President, Rose Dryden @Cement Australia, Rose.Dryden@cemaust.com.au
Secretary/Treasurer, Jocelyne Poirier @QUT, j.poirier@qut.edu.au
Regular bimonthly lunchtime meetings are held at the
members' institutions, on a voluntary basis.
The Annual ACCESS Queensland Group Meeting is scheduled on the Christmas
lunchtime meeting to elect the new office bearers.
The group hopes to facilitate:
Cooperation between member libraries;
Share information and resources;
Entrance library resources to the member community;
Offer practical help and encouragement to librarians working in isolated or unfamiliar subject areas.
