Good day all. As 2008 draws to an end with many of us exhausted from a hard year's work, the impending excitement of this year's conference is now upon us. This short newsletter is therefore our last opportunity to spread some news before we see each other once again. Looking forward to meeting you all!

The 2008 A2E2 Conference

If you haven't heard about this by now, where on earth have you been?
The Rydges Capricorn Resort Yeppoon will soon be hosting hundreds of engineering educators between the 7th and 10th of December in an idyllic environment.
See you there (unless this was a surprise of course). Details at: http://www.events.rockhamptoninfo.com.au/

The 2009 A2E2 Conference

A2E2 Annual Conference is Australasia's premier engineering education event and a key networking opportunity for what is new and exciting in engineering education. AAEE09 will be held and hosted by The University of Adelaide in the heart of the City of Churches from the 6th to the 9th of December 2009. The campus, one of Australia's oldest, is nestled alongside the banks of the river Torrens and yet the amenities of the city are only a short stroll across North Terrace.

An abundance of accommodation, shops, dining and entertainment venues are all within (genuine) easy walking distance. Glenelg, Adelaide's traditional seaside resort, is a short tram ride to the west. The tranquillity of the rolling Adelaide Hills lie to the East and World famous vineyards are both North (The Barossa) and the South (McLaren Vale).

Those wishing to extend their stay might also want to consider a visit to Kangaroo Island (Australia's 3rd largest) or the magnificent Flinders Ranges to the North.

Abstracts are now invited via our conference website.

Conference information can be found at: http://www.plevin.com.au/aaee2009

Information about the University can be found at: http://www.adelaide.edu.au

2009 Research in Engineering Education Symposium (July 20-23, 2009 in sunny Queensland, Australia)

Now that FIE is over for another year and 2008 is rapidly drawing to a close, it is my pleasure to invite you to participate in the 2009 Research in Engineering Education Symposium to be held July 20-23, 2009 in sunny Queensland, Australia. This conference will build on the momentum developed this year in Davos at REES 2008. Attractive options at the moment are Palm Cove near Cairns or Maroochydore near Brisbane - both convenient to international airports and to major tourist precincts. The conference is a publish to attend event, with attendance open to all of the co-authors on your accepted abstract. Sponsors so far include the University of Melbourne's School of Engineering, Purdue University, and the Journal of Engineering Education. Abstracts will be blind-reviewed and will be published on a CD, with an ISBN.

New Courses

Master of Problem Based Learning

The Master in Problem Based Learning and Science will start February 1, 2009 based on a new study regulation. Deadline for application is December 1, 2008. Please visit our homepage: http://www.mpbl.aau.dk/ for more information. For further information please contact: Marianne Nyborg, mariannen@plan.aau.dk

CDIO (Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate)

The 2009 CDIO Conference will be held in Singapore from June 7-10. The call for papers is currently out with abstracts due December 5, 2008. The Singapore conference is already shaping up to be a big one with 300 delegates already expressing their interest to attend. It has been decided to cap the number of accepted papers to 100. The conference web-site can be accessed via http://www.cdio.org/meetings/index.html We are very pleased that the global CDIO Leader's meeting will be coming to Australia in 2010 with the intention of co-hosting with AAEE in Sydney. With AAEE 2008 in Yeppoon looming, there will be a CDIO workshop and an Australian and New Zealand Regional Group leaders meeting at the conference. As per CDIO practice, all are welcome to attend these meetings.

Membership

Joining AAEE and the benefits: AAEE has a growing community of people who are deeply passionate about the quality of engineering students' learning experiences. For a full set of instructions on how to become a member of AAEE and join this expanding network, go to http://www.aaee.com.au/join/ and download an application form. In brief, students and members of Engineers Australia can join for free.

The Journal

The 'Australasian Journal of Engineering Education (AJEE)' is an excellent internationally peer reviewed Journal that requires your continual support in terms of submitting high quality paper submissions and volunteering to review. Papers, on all aspects of engineering education, that are submitted follow an autonomous peer review process, with two independent reviewers.

Submissions can be made via the website at http://www.editorialmanager.com/eatj or simply follow the links from the AAEE website.

Thank you for reading. See you soon!
